I know everyone is getting ready for Camporee, but want to let you know about another upcoming event to consider. It is an opportunity for outreach, fundraising, and sharing with hundreds what Pathfinders is all about.
On Sabbath, November 12, there will be an Austin Soul-Winning Festival at the Riverbend Church (4214 N. Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746), from 4-6PM. This is for everyone to enjoy, be encouraged and be blessed! There will be great music from various Austin Churches, baptisms, and our North American Division President, Dan Jackson will be our speaker.
They are asking for Pathfinder Clubs to offer food for sale from 6-8PM after the main program. We are looking for at least five, but prefer a dozen or more clubs to take part. They are expecting up to 1000 people to attend the program, so plenty of food is needed.
The food will be served outdoors on the large patio at Riverbend Church. Each club will be provided with a table with two chairs. You will need to bring a a 25 foot extension cord if you want to serve hot food (bring your crock pot, electric griddle, etc), bring plates/bowls/cups and utensils for the food you sell, and bring your own cash box.
The organizers are suggesting a variety of foods (Veggie Hot dogs, Vegeburgers, Burritos, tostadas, Enchiladas, rice and beans, Dessert, drink items, etc. Be creative and interesting. Mickey Johnson, the manager of the ABC, is offering to make special deals on veggie items (hot dogs, etc) for clubs looking to sell those at this event (you will need to contact him directly).
I would ask that each club that participates also takes the opportunity to make some sort of trifold or other display for their table highlighting all of the things their Pathfinder club does, the skills learned, the outreach, community service and outdoors programs. This is a great opportunity to show people all that Pathfinders does in Central Texas.
Please let me know if you are interested, any additional questions you may have, and what you may be interested in selling. Within the week we will have a registration page set up in the Directors Corner of the CTX Pathfinder website.
