What is the Pathfinder Bible Experience?
The Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE) is the Official North American Division Pathfinder Bible study program. Several other programs have and are currently used (Pathfinder Bible Achievement, Bible Bowl...), but the Texas Conference (and by extension Central Texas Area) participates in the PBE program. Each year, a different book or books of the Bible are chosen for study, and in February the participating Pathfinders are provided an opportunity to showcase their knowledge of the Bible.
PBE teams are made up of six Pathfinders, with one optional alternate. Clubs can host as many teams as they have Pathfinders (the more the better!), and study is from the New King James version for English (Thomas Nelson Pathfinder Edition), Nueva Reina Valera 1995 for Spanish, and Version Louis Segond en Français for French. There are four levels of participation: Area (held the fist Sabbath in February), Conference (held the first Sabbath in March), Union (held the last Sabbath in March) and Division (held the third Sabbath in April). Scoring is comparative - a First Place is awarded to those teams that score within 90 percent of the highest team score, Second Place is awarded to those scoring 80-89 percent of the highest score. First Place teams are permitted to advance to the next higher level. The way the questions will be delivered and timed is changing this year for PBE. Please refer to the following announcement from the North American Division if you would like to see the full explanation [ANNOUNCEMENT].
The most notable change is that there will no longer be the two-part question time ("Write your answer... Display your answer"). Rather, there will be a single time allotted for each question that will include discussion and writing, and NO additional time will be permitted to complete writing the answer, so no more flags held up to finish. All answers must be completely written by the end of the time allotted. A 10 second warning will be given before the answer must be handed over. Below are the times allotted for each type of question: 1 pt = 25 seconds 2 pts = 30 seconds 3 pts = 35 seconds 4 pts = 40 seconds 5 pts = 45 seconds 6 pts = 50 seconds 7 pts = 55 seconds 8 pts = 60 seconds |
