Several updates, but please take some time to read through this, and share with staff and Pathfinders as appropriate. I am still overseas, so contact Everardo if you need anything immediate, but I am also still available always via email.
1. As you are all scheduling the 2015-16 Pathfinder Year, please note that there is NO Texas Conference Camporee in 2016, due to the upcoming Union Camporee. Central Texas is considering moving our normal October Camporee to the end of March, when the Texas Camporee would normally be, and we will hold some local events in October. This will give clubs more time ahead of the Camporee, and reduce that beginning-of-the-year rush.
2. The Texas Conference Staff Leadership and TLT training is rapidly approaching - August 15-16. If you haven’t registered, please do so soon (http://form.jotformpro.com/form/51636390435961).
3. For the leadership training weekend, CTX is hosting the Director Certification program. Please let me know if you have staff in your club who are good instructors (Particularly any PIA - if you have PIA, they SHOULD be assisting teaching). We will be presenting the following classes:
LEAD 001 Introduction to leadership skills
LEAD 150 Introduction to recruiting, screening and training staff
LEAD 122 Dealing with the conference and your local church board
PYSO 120 Introduction to discipline
WILD 001 Survey of camping and camp out planning
EDUC 200 Teaching Investiture Achievement: Intent and organization
FINA 100 Handling finances
PYSO 207 Dealing with parents
We will work with the instructors to shape the syllabus and assist in collecting materials as needed. Please note that any instructor teaching two or more classes will be able to attend free, and can take any of the other classes free. Any instructor teaching one class can eat one meal free. But please let me know as soon as possible regarding potential teachers. This is a very important training session for all of Texas. In addition to the Director certification, there will be Basic Staff Training, Instructor Certification, Leadership Certification and Staff Leadership Certification, as well as TLT Basic and TLT Mentorship (Adventurer and Master Guide will also be offering classes).
4. Finally, regarding the GC session, please see below from Gene:
To all,
Thank you for being a part of the General Conference Offering Pick up on Sabbath, July 4 and Sabbath, July 11. As most of you know, the Pathfinders of all ages, Master Guides of all ages and the Adventurer Leaders of the Southwestern Union have been asked to pick up the offering on Sabbath mornings for both weekends of General Conference in the San Antonio Alamodome. On each day, we will be picking up at Sabbath School and again at the Divine Worship hour. I need the assistance of everyone who can be there at the Alamodome each Sabbath. Many of you have signed up on the registration form for this event but many more have not. We are no longer using the registration form due to shortness of time.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH SABBATH:
1. Because of the organizing necessary and program schedule, meet inside Alamodome at the North Entrance at 8:30AM each Sabbath Morning. Look to your Left as you enter the doors and you will see a Sign or Banner indicating our Offering Pick up meeting place. You must be prompt.
2. You will be given instructions, then divided up and given your Level and Section assignment at that time.
3. Each Volunteer will be given a participation Pin, Arm Band and Ribbon indicating you are official and will have special access.
4. Remember we need you for both Sabbath School and Divine Worship Service so please do not leave after the first offering.
5. We want you in your Class A, Club Ministries Uniform, whether Pathfinders, Master Guides or Adventurers. If you do not have your uniform, please come anyway but make every effort to be in your uniform.
WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS TO PICK UP THE OFFERING!!!!!
Please send this e-mail out to all your club ministry personnel you can. We need at least 260 persons to help pick up the offering and currently we are only aware of about 150 for each Sabbath. WE NEED HELP.
Thanks!!!
Gene
