Please feel free to forward this to others in clubs, or to those who are starting clubs.
Hello all, hope you are enjoying your brief break for the summer, and already thinking about planning for next year. Please let us know if you have any questions, and please use the Monthly Report form on the CTX website to update us with information about your club (any staff changes, contact information, etc).
Each of the Texas areas are offering training sessions this summer - registration information will be coming soon. You may attend any or even all of these training events. All staff needs to have taken the Basic Staff Training course, but there are also other more focused tracks being offered in different areas (see below).
Also, please note, if you club is having a TLT program, the TLT candidates and mentors MUST attend a TLT training program this summer. This is being offered at each of the Area trainings, so you have five different weekends to choose from. Only clubs, TLTs and Mentors who attend TLT training will be authorized to have a TLT program in Texas this year (more information below).

ABOUT TLT PROGRAM THIS YEAR: (From Manuel Henriquez):
To be an official TLT member the individual has to attend one of the Area's leadership weekends, be present for the whole training weekend and have a mentor.
During this training they will have to decide if they wish to volunteer for activities during the Union Camporee. If they do, they will have to serve 15-hours as volunteers. They can start accumulating their service hours for camporee even before the camporee; information will be given during training.
1) If a club is to have TLTs taking the training they also have to provide mentors to take the mentor's track. A mentor should not have more than 5 TLT. This means that if a club has more than 5 TLTs then they have to provide 2 mentors. A mentor has to be 21 years old or older and must take the Shield the vulnerable and background check seminars. It is not a requirement for the mentor to be a member of the Pathfinder club. It is strongly suggested that the mentor is not a close relative of the TLT. Mentor has to be present in the class at all times to be certified.
2) TLT must bring the TLT application ready and signed to registration (the three recommendations letter can also be brought to the meeting).
If you have any questions about the TLT program please contact me by email or text.
Advantages of having a TLT program:
1) Creating leaders.
2) Counselor getting help
3) Youth have a sense of ownership
4) younger Pathfinders desire to be a TLT
5) Youth have a ministry and a purpose in the club
For the TLT:
1) SWAU and other Adventist Universities offer nice leadership scholarships with a letter from the TX TLT Director.
2) Must public schools easily will accept the certificate with volunteer hours and the leadersbhip traing hours.
3) About 15 Leadership training hours plus about 60 volunteer hours per year.
4) For those who complete the four years will end up with more than 75 hours of leadership training and more than 300 hours of volunteer service.
5) Many non-Adventist universities will offer leadership and volunteer scholarships.
