Welcome to the new Central Texas Pathfinder website. This site is designed to serve our Pathfinder Clubs in Central Texas, and help share more about what our Pathfinders are doing, and the message we have for the world. Please let us know what else you would like to see on the site, and be ready to share your club activities here.

It is a busy summer for Pathfinder Clubs in Central Texas, around the country, and even around the world. The Forever Faithful International Camporee is less than two months away. We have pulled together on our Documents and Forms page a set of forms you will need for your trip to Oshkosh. As we have new information or materials, we will post them here as well as send to you via e-mail.

Although the international Camporee requires plenty of attention, it is also important to begin planning the 2014-2015 Pathfinder Year. Below is the tentative schedule for Central Texas, to help you start to plan. A finalized calendar will be available shortly.

  • September 6-7: AYMT Leadership Training (Adventist Youth Ministries Training). This is the new training program for Pathfinders and other Youth ministries. All staff should plan to attend, particularly new staff or those moving into different positions of leadership. Please let your Area Coordinators know soon if you will have significant changes in leadership in your club, as we can better prepare the tracks offered at this training session to fit the needs of the area. You can learn more about AYMT at http://www.pathfindersonline.org/leaders/aymt-training
  • October: Month of Service. We are trying something new in Central Texas this year - two months dedicated to Service and Mission. The idea is to get your club organized around service in October, and not only your club but all the clubs throughout Central Texas. We have, in the Pathfinder Pledge, the commitment to be Servants of God and Friends to Mankind. By focusing the efforts of all of the Central Texas pathfinder Clubs around Service in October (and Mission in March) we can make a strong impact on our communities and the area, and provide the opportunity for our youth to take an active role in their communities. Work with other Pathfinder Clubs, shape service projects around other activities, engage with the local community and make an impact. Please keep the Area Coordinators informed of plans or ideas, and we will assist as we can. In addition, this sort of region-wide service provides a strong opportunity to get the Pathfinder organization publicity, not for selfish reasons but to encourage others and share what we know and do.
  • November 7-8: Teen Backpacking Trip. We are looking for a good location, one that will cover around 15 miles total over the weekend. This will be for those working on Ranger, Voyager or Guide, and the older teens. We will not be having a CTX Camporee this year, given the nearness after Oshkosh.
  • January 10 (or 17): Pathfinder Bible Experience practice Session.
  • February 22: Pine Car Derby
  • March: Month of Mission. This is an opportunity for Pathfinder Clubs throughout the region to focus on mission activity - in their communities or beyond. There will likely be numerous opportunities in March around Spring break to join mission activities in San Antonio ahead of the General Conference session, but there are also local actions you can participate in as well. It may also be good to coordinate with your church to have a mission-focused outreach or an evangelism program in March. March 14 is also Global Youth Day, a Sabbath for youth across the world to reach out to their communities in active service. You can find inspiration from the 2014 GYD. We are looking to have as many clubs as possible all focused on Mission work in March, to make the maximum impact in our region.
  • April 2-5: Texas Conference Camporee. This is Easter Weekend, so usually the weekend of the Texas Conference Camporee.

This calendar isn’t quite finalized, but it should help you as you work on your club planning for 2014-15. In the coming weeks we will share with you additional updates about Oshkosh and Central Texas, as well as introduce you to your new Area Coordinators.

Pathfinders is a faith-based co-educational youth leadership and development program, boasting some 2 million members worldwide. The Pathfinder program provides a safe and nurturing environment where youth are able to develop and strengthen their spiritual, mental, physical and emotional skills, to participate in service to the community and to God, and to spend time in nature overcoming challenges and appreciating creation. The Central Texas Area comprises some 30 Pathfinder clubs, stretching from Laredo in the south to Waco in the north. The Area staff coordinate region-wide training and activities, and support the local club staff and members.
