We are all back from the Texas Conference Camporee. Through wind and sun, dust, rain and mud, the Pathfinders remained strong. The weekend was highlighted by a series of messages on the Camporee theme, Risen!, from Pastor Blanchard, backed by a reenactment of the final days of Christ’s life, his death and finally, at 6AM on Sunday morning, his resurrection. Central Texas Area provided prayer and special music Sabbath evening, as well as the honor guard for flag lowering Friday evening. On Sabbath we also saw the Master Guide investiture for another Central Texas Pathfinder.
The main club activities began Friday, and the Pathfinders demonstrated their skills in lashing and knot tying, compass work, running and sports. They also displayed their Bible knowledge, and their hard work on their models of the Sanctuary. Sabbath afternoon provided additional activities, nature walks, and time to enjoy the property at Lake Whitney. All told, we had somewhere close to 3800 in attendance, a small city complete with its own streets, sanitation department, water service, security and medical staff. We are grateful for all of the volunteers, for the ready assistance of the Central Texas Pathfinder Club staff who assisted with manning events, for all of the TLTs and Master Guides who helped out in events, inspections, and other duties, and for the protection that God gave us throughout the weekend.
