The Central Texas Month of Service saw many clubs working on food collection for local food pantries and for Thanksgiving food baskets. The history of Pathfinder Club can collecting around halloween dates back to 1951, when a local church school in Wisconsin decided to use Halloween as a time to collect money, food and clothing for the less fortunate, rather than seeking treats for themselves. This was quickly picked up by Pathfinder Clubs, which were being founded all over the United States in the early 1950s. It is wonderful to see, more than 60 years later, this tradition continues as a regular way for Pathfinder Clubs to engage and serve their communities.

This weekend will be our Central Texas Teen Backpacking trip. We will be going to Pace Bend Park (http://www.lcra.org/parks/developed-parks/Pages/pace-bend.aspx) on Lake Travis. The weather is forecast to be nearly perfect - 60s in the day, mid to upper 40s at night. Please be sure to register your club in the Director’s Corner by this Wednesday, so we know how many are coming. The Director’s Corner also has a request for early release for students  you can download to facilitate early arrival. We have a speaker lined up for Sabbath, but are still looking for a few more activity leaders - if you are interested, please let us know.

We are looking at December 7 as the date for the first Honor Fair for Central Texas this year. We will have additional information soon on the location and the topics. And don’t forget the Pathfinder Bible Experience (http://centraltexaspathfinders.weebly.com/pathfinder-bible-experience.html) is approaching. We will have a practice session in early January ahead of the Area PBE February 7.

The Area staff coordinate region-wide training and activities, and support the local club staff and members.
