Hello all,
A couple of additions since yesterday's note:
First, the attached flyer from the Youth Department at the Texas Conference offers some information and encouragement to participate in a mission trip to San Antonio this month, as well as the upcoming Global Youth Day.
Second, some clarification to address questions regarding the events at Camporee:
Event: DrillClarification: The club Drillmaster should be a Pathfinder or TLT. However, if the club is very small, and with the approval of the Conference Drillmaster, a staff member may act as Drillmaster. The club should contact the Conference Drillmaster with any questions about this.
Event: Sanctuary In ScaleClarifications:
1) The minimum size of the sanctuary model has been changed to 22 inches (instead of 24). The maximum remains unchanged. 2) It is permissible for a club to construct the model from a kit, or to use printable kits. However, take pride in your work; this is intended to be a spiritual experience as you understand and delve into the mystery of God's grace as shown in the sanctuary3) Each club must make their own model. Clubs are not allowed to submit a single model for multiple clubs.4) The judges of this event have stated that they will accept models in which the furniture is made to a different scale than the overall sanctuary. However, they point out that doing so may incur a penalty of 5-10 points (out of a possible 250).
Event: Your House Is Left DesolateClarification: The poles are 6 feet long and roughly 2 inches in diameter. The ropes are: 1 8-foot rope, 1 5-foot rope, 1 3-foot rope and 2 2-foot ropes. The sheet is a queen-size flat sheet, folded in half diagonally.
Event: Bring WaterClarifications:
1) The pitchers may touch the ground.2) The buckets at either end of the course may not be picked up or moved in any way3) Each staff member has a "bubble" around themselves that is 2 steps in diameter from where they start. In essence, they may take one full step in any direction from the starting point. As long as they remain inside this "bubble" they are free to move around as they wish. However, if they leave this "bubble" at any time, they are penalized the 20 points (out of 100).4) The poles are 6 feet long and roughly 2 inches in diameter.
Event: Lash and CarryClarification: The rope is actually 8 feet long. This was a misprint.
Events: All involving rope:Clarification: The rope supplied will be a diamond-braid rope at least 3/8 inch in diameter. All ends will be taped and heat-sealed.
